Choosing the florals for your wedding day can really bring your whole vision together.

As a vital part of any wedding ceremony, flowers are believed to symbolize new hope and a prosperous future ahead for the couple.

Wedding aisles – pews covered in flower blossoms will send a sweet fragrance of freshness throughout the air.

Traditional flower arrangements and settings implement beauty at weddings.

If you’re dreaming of bold and unique or soft and romantic, fresh florals are the best way to elevate any venue space and tie your wedding theme together.

One way to reduce your costs if you have a smaller budget is to choose flowers that are in season.

Seasonal flowers are widely available, meaning florists and local vendors don’t have to pay premium costs to ship them in. That lower cost is then passed on to you.

Let’s start by looking at a few of the most popular wedding flowers available throughout the year.

(Images and illustrations are courtesy of Zola)

Let’s now examine a few types of flowers and their meanings:

Roses

There is a reason that roses are the most popular choice of flowers for brides.

A white rose stands for innocence, beauty, and charm-just the traits every bride wants to portray. A bride that chooses red roses for her wedding flowers is sending a message of passion and of fiery love.

If dark pink roses are used for a wedding, the couple is expressing a thankfulness that they found each other.

An ivy-colored rose stands for fidelity in the marriage-something every new couple strives for.

Tulips

If you are having a spring wedding, there is simply no better way to express your love for your future spouse than by carrying a bouquet of tulips. They are not only beautiful but speak of undying love.

Daisies

Daisies are many people’s favorite flowers, but not a lot of brides use them in their wedding dÈcor. They just might if they understood their significance!

Daisies stand for romance and an innocent spirit. Does that describe you?

Calla Lilies

These graceful flowers are reminders of our past generations when grace and beauty were the rule. Associated with elegance and charm, a calla lily would be the perfect flower if you wanted to create a sophisticated atmosphere for your wedding.

Now that we’ve looked at some of the most popular flowers, let’s talk about how to use them to create just the right wedding event for you.

If you want a fairy tale-type wedding, then you can’t go wrong with roses-lots of them – Combine pinks-both dark and soft -and white and ivy-colored ones.

Be sure to wrap them in lots of sparkling tulles that match the other colors in your wedding.

For a more sophisticated affair, use calla lilies.

You can carry a single stem for a simple look, or a large bouquet for a stunning effect.

Be sure to combine these flowers with elegance-both in the wedding party’s attire and the surrounding decorations.

For a more casual event such as a beach wedding-use daisies to make your guests feel cheery and at home.

You can tie them with pretty ribbons that match the other colors in your wedding’s decor and then mix them with loads of baby’s breath.

Choose soft pastel colors to create a spring wedding, and then combine them with lots of feathery greenery, white linen, and adoring looks!

As you can see, the flowers that you choose for your wedding will definitely help set any mood you choose.

Knowing that, before you select your flowers, determine what type of wedding and reception event you want to have. Once you do that, choosing the flowers will be a breeze!

We know meeting your wedding florist can make you feel anxious because you might not know what to expect or what information they need from you.

Let us ease some stress and hopefully give you some clarity.

When you meet with your florist you should have your basic information, date, location, wedding party numbers, possible centerpiece ideas, wedding dress pictures, and a rough estimate of your table numbers.

It’s also a good idea to have a few inspiration photos, flowers, or any color schemes you both like along with you.

Try not to rely on the florist to envision your creation from words alone, the more visual the better.

A lot depends on the location, the number of guests, and how you want your wedding to be remembered. Consider the vitality of the flowers, so that you will have great-looking pieces that won’t wilt over the course of the day.

Your florist will know which will hold up and which are just too delicate. Listen to your florist’s suggestions.

If you did your research and picked a good one, he or she will know from experience how to bring your desires to reality with the best flowers or the perfect hardy substitute.

Don’t Worry! You’ll have time to adjust the final numbers with your florist once RSVPs are received and you have an exact number. This is normal practice.

If you have a budget, make sure to tell them so they can work with you moving forward, be transparent; you’re saving all parties involved time which is invaluable.

Be realistic with your expectation for your vision and your florist will be your best friend giving you all viable options at your disposal.

We hope these gave some comfort in knowing that you do not need every detail finalized.

As you might know, your wedding bouquet is an important part of the planning process as bouquets of flowers have always been a BIG attraction at any wedding

A bouquet of flowers symbolizes a blossoming maiden and reflects her emotions.

And so, wedding bouquets should be carefully selected and planned the same way you plan for your wedding gown.

Here are just a few tips for choosing your wedding bouquet:

1. It is recommended that you choose a flower that is in season to save money and time.

This will not give you a hard time trying to order the flower as well.

2. Your bouquet should not drown you.

Be sure that it will not cover your figure. If you are petite, the weight of the flower might be too heavy for your build and may affect your posture and how you carry your gown.

Remember that your bouquet should not be too big so as not to cover your elegant gown and should be easy to carry.

3. The flowers you chose should last for the entire day.

Make sure that your flowers still hold up even at the end of the day so that you will still look glamorous when taking pictures. Using a bouquet holder is suggested to keep the flowers fresh during the entire day.

Also, take the advice of your florist on which flowers easily wilt so that you can avoid choosing them.

4. Take a picture or a printed copy of the bouquet style you prefer for your florist.

Also, bring a sample fabric of the gowns so that the florist can choose the correct shade of flowers that will match the color of the gowns. Some bouquets may be decorated with ribbons, lace, and silk materials.

You can ask your wedding florist what specific designs you would like to add to your flowers.

5. Why not choose a flower that has a special meaning?

That will not be difficult since most flowers have their meanings. Stephanotis stands for happiness in marriage, Rose means love and being true, and Tulips stands for perfect love and declaration of love.

6. One of the first things to consider when opting for a bouquet is style.

Choose the bouquet style that will suit you and your personality.

Bouquets are more personal nowadays and reflect the brides’ personalities.

Nosegays, where flowers are clustered in a round form, can vary in sophistication and will fit any personality.

In Cascade bouquets, flowers are arranged in a descending form.

These bouquets are voluptuous and can be the center of attention. They are recommended for traditional weddings.

There are flowers where stems are wrapped around in ribbons and they are called Hand-tied bouquets. These bouquets bring a casual aura and are recommended for garden weddings.

There are also Contemporary bouquets where flowers are arranged in style but with no geometric form.

These arrangements of flowers represent the individuality of a bride and are mostly used in sophisticated weddings.

7. Top wedding flowers

The top and most common flowers are Roses, Hydrangeas, Peonies, Lisianthus, Lilly, Orchids, Ranunculus, and Dahlias.

We hope these give you a better idea of how to have your perfect wedding bouquet!

Flower arrangements are everywhere during weddings, whether for décor or as part of the bouquets carried down the aisle by the bride and bridesmaids. It’s totally normal to wonder how much wedding flowers cost.

Your wedding flowers are one of the most beautiful elements of your wedding day.

Whether you decide on a simple wedding or go all out with a bright, vivid palette, the options can be limitless!

As of now, the industry average is around 8-12% of your overall wedding budget.

This will cover the bride’s bouquet, bridesmaids’ bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, ceremony, and reception flowers.

Wedding flowers are one of the major parts of your wedding budget. Flowers and decor set the tone, warmth, and atmosphere for your overall wedding theme.

The natural beauty of floral designs adds so much to your wedding day by creating picture-perfect photos of you and your loved ones on one of the most special days of your life.

The cost of flowers changes depending on a number of factors.

Here are some of the industry standards when it comes to pricing:

  • Bridal Bouquets $150-350
  • Bridesmaids Bouquets $75-150
  • Flower Girl Ringlet/Basket $40-80
  • Corsages $35-50
  • Boutonniere’s $20-40
  • Table Centerpieces (low) $75-150
  • Table Centerpieces (tall) $175-300
  • Garlands (priced per foot) $20-60
  • Ceremony Arrangements $200-500
  • Card Table Decor/Tall Arrangement $150-300
  • Cocktail Table Arrangement $40-75
  • Arbor or Chuppah Rental $150-500
  • Arbor Florals $250-2000
  • Isle Chair Shepherd Hook Rental w/Arrangement $40-125
  • Isle Bows, Ribbon, or Tulle $30-75

If you marry around Valentine’s day, expect roses to be at a premium.

If you wed in winter, certain flowers will be harder to come by and hence more expensive.

Of course, if you have a very large wedding, all costs are proportionally higher.

Florists have to pay a premium price for wedding flowers. If you’ve chosen a very specific variety or color; at the height of the wedding season, the price of white roses can double and triple.

The added work and care your wedding florist takes in selecting the most pristine blooms for your bouquets, wedding party, centerpieces, and processing the flowers days ahead of time are a few examples of why they cost more than an everyday bouquet.

At the end of the day if your wedding flowers go wrong there is no second chance. Florists can’t deliver a new bouquet the next day.

Remember: Have fun planning your wedding; it’s your special day that you’ll both look back on and talk about throughout your lives. Create your vision, and understand your budget and the look you want to achieve.

Choosing wedding flowers is such an important part of the wedding. There are some things to be aware of when you are ready to decide on your wedding flowers.

Since your flowers are an essential part of the wedding you should begin by preparing a budget. When you have a budget in place you will have a very good idea of what the flowers are going to cost.

If you haven’t already decided on a florist you may want to ask the advice of family and friends. Pay close attention to the recommendations of those who have recently been married. The newly married will be able to offer you good advice.

Figure out how many arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages that you will need. Take this information with you any time you talk to a florist about the wedding flowers.

Before you decide on your wedding flowers, talk to your florist. You might want to bring pictures of bouquets and arrangements that you like. Also, bring pictures of your dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses. All these things will be instrumental in assuring the most beautiful wedding flowers possible.

Make sure you have samples of the colors you plan to use at the wedding. This will be very helpful in choosing the colors of the flowers.

You might want to ask the florist for some photos of wedding flowers they have designed. Many florists keep a book of wedding flower photos exactly for this purpose.

Talk to your florist about using flowers that match the style of your wedding. If you are having a casual wedding you may want to use different flowers than if you are planning a traditional wedding.

You also might want to consider using wedding flowers that are specific to your region and to the season in which you are getting married.

This will not only keep the cost down but you will not have to worry about the flowers being available.

Choose your wedding flowers carefully and they will be a wonderful part and set the tone of your wedding.

Is a wedding checklist important? Why do you need it? Do you think everything you have on your mind will be ready on your big day?

Don’t you think of the opportunities of missing something? If you don’t have a wedding checklist you might be asking for trouble, and here’s why.

No matter how good your memory is you’d be very unwise to rely on it for every little detail you have to remember concerning your wedding.

On such an important day for you, it would be a crying shame if it was spoiled simply because you failed to plan properly in the first place – and a properly constructed checklist is the very best way you can ensure that all of your wedding plans come to fruition.

Creating a wedding checklist tailored to your specific needs and desires will certainly help to relieve the inevitable stress, particularly as the special day gets closer.

Having a well-thought-out wedding checklist will ensure that you don’t forget anything and will enable you to relax, be safe in this knowledge, and enjoy the day itself.

Here are some of the things you should put on your checklist are setting the wedding date and time, reserving the date with a florist, photographer, and DJ; reserving the church and reception location.

These are the first things that should be done in the planning stages six to twelve months before the wedding day itself.

Other important things for your checklist include planning a budget, choosing the wedding party, and ordering the invitations. You also need to make arrangements for a wedding dress, hairdressing, and makeup.

Not forgetting that you also need to arrange for co-coordinated clothing for your wedding attendants and, of course, you need to arrange the all-important wedding rings with a jeweler.

It is necessary that all of the above major things should be arranged as early as possible so that you have plenty of time for the small details later.

Reminders are helpful. Don’t forget to ensure that you put reminders on your list for closer to the date.

Reminders for ordering your wedding flowers, the wedding cake, addressing and sending invitations, a final fitting for the wedding dress and groom’s outfit and placing a wedding announcement in the local press, etc.

About a month to six weeks before your big day you should go over your wedding checklist to make absolutely sure you haven’t forgotten anything.

There are, of course, many more things than those listed above that you will need to put on your specific wedding planning checklist that is personal to your wedding, but the above will give you an idea of the things you need to include.

Being well-organized with your checklist will help you have plenty of time to complete each task. With this checklist, your wedding will be what you have dreamed of!

If you need wedding checklists as well as a wedding floral guide to help you choose the right flowers and florist, you can download our free guide and checklists here!

Wedding Flowers – Warm Or Pastel Shades https://wilmingtonflowershop.com/wedding-flowers-warm-or-pastel-shades/ https://wilmingtonflowershop.com/wedding-flowers-warm-or-pastel-shades/#respond Wed, 23 Mar 2022 03:46:22 +0000 https://wilmingtonflowershop.com/?p=2715 Wedding Flowers – Warm Or Pastel Shades Read More »

]]>
No matter what type of wedding you are planning, whether it is going to be a big fancy formal affair or a simple informal one, it will almost certainly involve flowers.

When you combine the beauty and fragrance of flowers with natural light, candles, and soft, tinted electric lighting, the effect can be breathtaking.

To set a romantic scene for the wedding match the ribbons, flowers, and lights in warm or pastel shades to complement or match your color scheme.

If you are going to need a lot of flowers give your florist plenty of notice so that he can free up time to get your order ready.

How do you decide the amount of flowers that you will need? Make yet another list.

Who needs flowers? The Bride, Maid of Honor, Bridesmaid, Flower Girl, mothers of the bride and groom, boutonnieres for the Groom, ushers, Fathers of the bride and Groom, grandparents of both the bride and groom.

That’s a lot of flowers, but wait there are more> You will want flowers for the church, and for the tables at the reception.

When you visit the florist for the first time bring pictures of your dress, the bridesmaid’s dresses, and the dresses both mothers will be wearing.

Also, bring the groom’s tux if it is any other color but black or white, so that the colors of flowers and ribbons won’t clash with anyone’s clothes.

A good florist will help you choose the perfect flowers to go with your styles and colors.

You may want to ask him to make you a small additional bouquet to throw, so you can have your bouquet preserved.

Bring pictures of bouquets and arrangements, from magazines that you like so that he can understand your preferences and style.

You will save money if you stick with seasonal flowers because it can cost a lot of money and time if the florist has to special order your flowers. There will also be an extra charge for shipping.

Before ordering flowers for the ceremony, check with the church or venue and see if there are size restrictions.

Flowers for the reception should complement or match the flowers you and the bridesmaids will be carrying.

What do you do with all of the beautiful arrangements on the tables, after the wedding?

Some couples have drawings for each table, to decide who gets to take the arrangements home. We are partners with the Power Flowers Project which repurposes arrangements and flowers and delivers them to senior centers. Others donate them to a nursing home, or women’s shelter to share their happiness, in a small way, with others.
